This Report presents information, ideas and best practice emerging from 4 case studies of World Bank-financed land programs. It presents theory and evidence for why it is important to consider gender in land policy, priority issues to consider, lessons learned, and recommendations.

This resource is relevant to practitioners involved in land titling, agriculture, natural resources, or displaced population focused programs. It includes practical discussion of:
- Legal and customary rights;
- Identification of property holders including in relation to ethnic and cultural norms and practices;
- A methodology for gender-disaggregated field assessment at preparation and implementation stages and for M&E;
- Adjudication and registration processes; and
- Education, training and communication.
Report annexes include a sample template for gender-specific social assessment, sample gender-specific indicators for monitoring and evaluation, and a sample questionnaire for data collection for baseline and impact evaluation.
