This book came out of a Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR) conference that was held in Africa in 2007. It provides an overview to the knowledge and practices in regard to CBR from that region. It is useful for those involved in CBR programs and those more interested in the details and finer aspects of these programs.

Each of the chapters of this book is based on presentations from a CBR conference in Africa in 2007. They cover a broad range of topics, including the role of national policies and law on CBR programming, partnerships across the sector and region, inclusive education, the role of CBR in disasters and HIV programs, as well as the working with families in crises. This book provides a real sense of what some of the focuses and key issues are in regards to CBR.
