The UN Statistical Commission charged the Washington Group on Disability Statistics with coming up with census and survey questions to produce high quality, internationally comparable measures of disability.

The Group endorsed a set of census questions that have been tested in over 16 countries. This includes a report on methodology behind these questions, the results of the tests, and examples of how to apply this approach to more extended measures of disability suitable for surveys.
