Australian Volunteers International (AVI) is an international development agency, with almost 60 years experience in Asia, the Pacific, Africa and the Middle East. AVI has recruited, briefed and prepared over 7000 Australians to work in over 60 countries, on some of the most challenging assignments across a range of different industries.

AVI's approach to development is based on a philosophy of participation, working in partnership with organisations to address local development needs.

AVI places skilled professionals who share their knowledge and experience that may be difficult to source locally, assisting organisations to achieve their own objectives to address community needs.

AVI partners with international organisations to:
- Work towards good governance
- Increase participation and social inclusion
- Improve health outcomes, particularly maternal and child health
- Improve education outcomes
- Support sustainable livelihoods, including food security.

AVI offers a range of volunteer programs, the majority of which are funded by the Australian Government through AusAID, and managed in collaboration with other agencies; PACTAM and VSO. AVI also encourages Australian corporate, government and not-for-profit agencies to participate in planning and delivering its projects.

AVI's professional services include cross-cultural recruitment, cultural effectiveness training for staff moving overseas or entering Australia, recruitment for Australian Indigenous communities, and personnel management systems.

AVI is a company limited by guarantee, registered as a charity and not-for-profit organisation. It has no political or religious affiliations.
