The purpose of this guide is to promote understanding and knowledge on accessibility standards and techniques. The series is mainly aimed at technicians in the field (engineers, architects, construction companies etc.), but is also interesting for people with technical knowledge that would like to learn more about the general principles of accessible design.

There are four manuals in this series:
- Manual #1: Introduction & accessibility standards
- Manual #2: Access to water and sanitation facilities, Part 1 – Toilets and closed showers and Part 2 – Open washing areas and water points. These two manuals show how to build accessible water and sanitation facilities, including toilets, closed showers, washing areas and access to clear water.
- Manual #3: Free movement
 - This manual gives instructions on how to make a built environment more accessible, mainly considering different construction techniques for circulation and access ramps.
