Singapore International Water Week (SIWW) 2012

Singapore International Water Week (SIWW) is the global platform for water solutions. It brings policymakers, industry leaders, experts and practitioners together to address challenges, showcase technologies, discover opportunities and celebrate achievements in the water world.

The Week will again culminate with the award of the Lee Kuan Yew Water Prize 2012. The Lee Kuan Yew Water Prize is the highlight of the Singapore International Water Week. This award honours outstanding contributions towards solving global water problems by either applying technologies or implementing innovative policies and programmes which benefit humanity.

National Water Week 2012

National Water Week is an annual awareness week that aims to raise public awareness and improve understanding of water issues in Australia. National Water Week is the only event in Australia that provides a national focus for water issues..

The ambassador program gives AWA members the opportunity to connect with their community. The National Water Week ambassador program is proving extremely popular again this year with over 130 water professionals already registered, and 90 schools already matched with ambassadors. There is still a lot of interest in this program so please feel free to become an ambassador for  your area.

World Toilet Day

In 2001 WTO declared 19th November World Toilet Day (WTD). Today it is celebrated in over 19 countries with over 51 events being hosted by various water and sanitation advocates.

World Toilet Organization created WTD to raise global awareness of the struggle 2.6 billion face every day without access to proper, clean sanitation. WTD also brings to the forefront the health, emotional and psychological consequences the poor endure as a result of inadequate sanitation.

World Water Day

International World Water Day is held annually on 22 March as a means of focusing attention on the importance of freshwater and advocating for the sustainable management of freshwater resources.

An international day to celebrate freshwater was recommended at the 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED). The United Nations General Assembly responded by designating 22 March 1993 as the first World Water Day.
