The Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat has supported the creation and implementation of a large range of agreements, treaties, declarations and compacts over its almost 40 years, the most recent as we are discussing is the Cairns Compact in 2009, and critical to our ongoing work is the Pacific Plan in 2005. Also very relevant to our work today is the basis developed from the Pacific Agreement on Closer Economic Relations (PACER) and Pacific Islands Countries Trade Agreement (PICTA) in 2001.

Others, in chronological order, include:
- South Pacific Regional Trade and Economic Cooperation Agreement, 1981
- South Pacific Nuclear Free Zone Treaty, 1985
- Tarawa Declaration, 1989
- Honiara Declaration, 1992
- Waigani Convention, 1995
- Aitutaki Declaration, 1997
- Biketawa Declaration, 2000
- Agreement establishing the Pacific Islands Forum, 2000
- Nasonini Declaration of Regional Security, 2002
- Pacific Oceans Policy, 2002
- Pacific Islands Air Services Agreement, 2003
- Leadership Principles, 2003,
- HIV and AIDS Regional Strategy, 2004
- New Forum Agreement, 2005
- Vava’U Declaration on Pacific Fisheries, 2007
- Niue Declaration on Climate Change, 2008
