Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR)
The Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR) operates as part of Australia's development assistance program within the Foreign Affairs and Trade portfolio. ACIAR does not carry out research itself, but brings together researchers from Australian and developing partner country institutions to work collaboratively on problems of mutual interest, to develop more productive and sustainable agricultural systems. The Centre is aware of the agricultural development priorities and needs of developing countries in the Asia-Pacific region, through its regular high-level and institutional consultations and contacts.
ACIAR plans, funds and manages projects in fields under the broad category of agricultural research and development - crop and livestock sciences, fisheries, forestry, land and water resources, and postharvest technology. It also commissions studies on agricultural economic and policy issues.
ACIAR's website provides links to its recent agricultural research and development publications covering the range of topics listed above. Also included are details on projects that are underway, and achievements from completed projects.
