Comprehensive disaster risk management framework on-line course

  • Host: World Bank Institute (WBI), National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM)
  • This course addresses basic questions such as ?why are disasters a development issue?" and ?what are the components of comprehensive disaster risk management?"

    The course reviews the institutional arrangements and financing mechanisms of disaster management systems, and identifies the role of national and local actors in the processes related to risk assessment, mitigation and financing.

    The program comprises a series of web-based courses, which aim at (i) awareness raising and (ii) advancing the participants? analytical skills and professional knowledge in the specific area of disaster risk management.

International Humanitarian Action Training

  • Host: Australian Red Cross
  • IHAT is a three-day introductory course for professionals and volunteers, designed to provide the skills essential to respond effectively in a humanitarian crisis.

    The course will be conducted and facilitated by experienced international practitioners, experts from a variety of humanitarian organisations, as well as Red Cross in-house experts.

    The course will be intensive, with time and opportunity for discussion and for learning from participants.

    Applications are now open for July and October courses.

International Day for Natural Disaster Reduction
