HIV Short Course July 2010

Is it time to update your knowledge of the latest evidence, proven approaches, and trends in global HIV programming' The Burnet Institute, Centre for International Health, is holding this course that may be of interest.
From 6 - 14 July 2010, this course 'Effective responses to HIV in developing countries' is part of the Masters of Public Health/International Health offered at Monash University. The subject is coordinated and delivered by the Burnet Institute at our offices in Prahran, Melbourne. Students enrolled in other Australian institutions are able to complete the course with academic credit (see your home university for cross-institutional enrolment procedures). Participants seeking professional development rather than academic credit are also welcome to enroll.

The Burnet Institute will be offering an intensive 5 day professional development course: 4 - 8 October, in Melbourne. This fee-paying course does not have University accreditation and is suitable for individuals working in international health, in development organizations or contemplating work overseas in community development and/or health programs. It is also suitable for those wishing to enhance their knowledge and understanding of the global context of the HIV epidemic and effective community-based responses. The course focuses on HIV in developing countries.

World AIDS Day (Red Ribbon Day)

World AIDS Day, observed December 1 each year, is dedicated to raising awareness of the AIDS pandemic caused by the spread of HIV infection. It is common to hold memorials to honor persons who have died from HIV/AIDS on this day.
The theme for World AIDS Day 2010 will be "Stop AIDS. Keep the Promise." accompanied by a sub-theme.
This overarching theme is designed to encourage political leaders to keep their commitment to achieve universal access to HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment, care, and support during the year 2010.
