Australian Development Gateway

The Australian Development Gateway (ADG) strives to support members of the development community in their efforts to reduce poverty and enhance sustainable development in the Asia Pacific region. The site has been created with participation from members of government, private, academia and non-government organisations. User feedback mechanisms have been incorporated to guide future directions of the site. The site is optimised for low bandwidth access to enable the widest participation throughout the Asia Pacific region.

Inclusion and vulnerability in the water and sanitation sector

  • Bob Reed of WEDC at Loughborough University is a specialist in public health engineering and an expert in water supply and sanitation for low income communities and refugee camps.

    The presentation will illustrate typical obstacles faced by vulnerable groups when trying to access water supply and sanitation facilities.

    It will also look at the simple measures that can be taken to improve access and use of public and private facilities, and the steps needed to ensure inclusion in future service delivery.

Sanitation and Water Conference 2008

  • In collaboration with AusAID and the Water and Sanitation Reference Group, World Vision Australia is pleased to announce the Sanitation and Water Conference 2008.

    This conference will explore the current context of water and sanitation in the East Asia-Pacific region. It will focus on the least developed countries and those with the lowest water and sanitation coverage percentages.

    It will also discuss the water and sanitation needs of the region and the best practice options for meeting those needs.

ICE WaRM 2007 / 2008 International visits and exchanges programme

  • Host: The International Centre of Excellence in Water Resources Management (ICE WaRM)
  • The International Centre of Excellence in Water Resources Management (ICE WaRM), has released its 2007 / 2008 International Liaison Programme offering financial support for visits and exchanges both in Australia and overseas.

    Applications are open for candidates from industry, education, training and research sectors for the purpose of either an inbound (to Australia) or outbound (from Australia) visit by individuals and exchanges between two candidates.

    The visit and exchange programme allows candidates the opportunity to increase their engagement at an international level and to connect with industry, vocational education and training and tertiary education sectors and research communities, in the area of water resources management.

    The visit and exchange programme can range in duration from four to thirteen weeks. Please visit the site for updated information for dates of the next intake.
