Household centred environmental sanitation (pdf 632kb)
This document provides guidelines to decision-makers and practitioners in the water and sanitation sector on how to incorporate a household-centred environmental sanitation (HCES) approach into programs and projects on water, sanitation and environment in urban areas.
The guidelines include an introduction to the basics of HCES approaches, discussions on the enabling environment, suggestions for a 10-step process to implementing a HCES approach, and a list of useful references.
