The Seeds of Development (pdf 320kb)

In this article from the Asia Pacific Development Review, the FAO suggests that current levels of donor investment in rural development are not adequate to meet the goal of halving the number of hungry people in Asia by 2015.

The article draws linkages between investment in the agricultural sector and the reduction hunger and rural poverty.  It claims that donors are showing renewed interest in agriculture and rural development, although short-term fixes will not be enough to aid in Asia's progress.  Long-term plans are the key.
