Australian Development Gateway

The Australian Development Gateway (ADG) strives to support members of the development community in their efforts to reduce poverty and enhance sustainable development in the Asia Pacific region. The site has been created with participation from members of government, private, academia and non-government organisations. User feedback mechanisms have been incorporated to guide future directions of the site. The site is optimised for low bandwidth access to enable the widest participation throughout the Asia Pacific region.

Assessing markets for business development services (pdf 389kb)

This study reviews the recent work of several donors and organisations in assessing business development services (BDS) markets in developing countries. By analysing data from thirteen different market assessments, the study aims to address the following issues:

  • How developed are various BDS markets?
  • How can organisations assess the potential for development of a BDS market?
  • Are the common preconceptions about BDS markets - on which many programs have been built - valid?
  • What are the key similarities and differences in a variety of BDS markets?
