Microfinance in East Timor
This paper examines the potential role of microfinance in the reconstruction of Timor-Leste (East Timor). It provides a set of suggested principles for introducing microfinance into Timor-Leste, with reference to criteria for the selection of communities and social groups capable of benefiting from it.
Attention is also given to the need to achieve sustainable delivery of microfinance, and how best practice principles of service delivery might be applied in the specific circumstances of Timor-Leste.
