The performance and sustainability of two Philippine microfinance institutions (pdf 63kb)
This study reviews the performance and sustainability of two microfinance institutions (MFIs) in the Philippines, in order to gain a better understanding of the challenges facing MFIs and the factors which are critical to their outreach and sustainability.
Several important factors in successfully attaining such outreach and sustainability are also highlighted, including ongoing support from AusAID. The lessons learned from the MFIs chosen for this case study reflect that of many other MFIs and NGOs in the Philippines and will provide useful insights for practitioners, donors, and policy makers.
