Outreach (Rural vs. Urban)
Designing microfinance to serve the MDGs (pdf 84kb)
This paper, prepared for the UN-ESCAP expert meeting on poverty and the Millennium Development Goals, held in Bangkok 2005, makes recommendations to world leaders regarding how microfinance activities should be designed to meet the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). It focuses on increasing outreach and penetration of microfinance services to disadvantaged groups which do not currently have access to these services. It also calls for a greater focus on the problems of urban poverty.
