Grants 101: Professional Grant Proposal Writing Workshop

The Grant Institute's Grants 101 course is an intensive and detailed introduction to the process, structure, and skill of professional proposal writing. Through the completion of interactive exercises and activities, participants will complement expert lectures by putting proven techniques into practice. This course is designed for both the beginner looking for a thorough introduction and the intermediate looking for a refresher course that will strengthen their grant acquisition skills.
Grants 101 consists of three (3) courses that will be completed during the three-day workshop.
(1) Fundamentals of Program Planning
(2) Professional Grant Writing
(3) Grant Research

The course is suitable for students or practitioners who are either involved or interested in working in the overseas aid sector. Particularly suitable for Project/Field Officers.
This is a practical two day workshop which looks at the key elements of the complementary project management methodologies of Project Cycle Management (PCM) and the Logical Framework Approach (LFA).
This course is designed for practitioners involved in community development projects in both Australia and overseas, the former including work in both urban and rural settings. Reference will be made to successful projects carried out in each of these settings.

Particiapatory Project Management (PPM) Workshop

The purpose of this workshop is to learn practical and participatory project management skills, which are used in community development (CD) projects in the Pacific Region.
The three main project management methodologies introduced are Project Cycle Management (PCM); Participatory Learning and Action (PLA) and the Logical Framework Approach (LFA). We will also be reviewing projects in the light of AusAID's latest Annual Review of Development Effectiveness (ARDE), 2007.
This workshop is designed for those who plan, manage, or evaluate development projects in the Asia Pacific Region.
This is a practically-based intensive workshop which combines both classroom teaching and, for those seeking advanced standing, follow-up assignments. Having completed the course, participants will have developed a range of practical skills to help them plan, write submissions for, implement, report on or evaluate community development projects.

The course is designed to support those who are or will be engaged in strengthening community participation in development initiatives. Participants should already have some experience in and understanding of international development.
The course will explore the meaning of community engagement and civil society strengthening in bilateral and multilateral programs and how policy change has increased the importance of developing a partnership between government and community in achieving national and international development goals.
It will explore current large AusAID and multilateral programs for social sector improvement and service delivery to communities in rural areas of Solomon Islands, PNG, Indonesia, Philippines, East Timor and other countries in our region.
