Harmonisation & Alignment

Harmonisation, alignment, results - report on progress, challenges and opportunities (pdf 954kb)

This report assesses progress and issues in implementing the Declarations of Rome (2003) and Marrakech (2004) on better harmonisation and alignment of development assistance.

These declarations represented a commitment by the international community to:

- Align development aid with partner country strategies
- Harmonise donor policies and procedures
- Utilise and strengthen partner country monitoring and evaluation systems to track progress and assess outcomes

The report identifies lessons of experience, positive and negative, as well as implications for future cooperation in development.
