Joint evaluation of general budget support (pdf 1.7mb)

This report was commissioned by a multi-donor steering group, including AusAID, NZAID, DFID, USAID and CIDA, as members of the OECD's Development Assistance Committee Network on Development Evaluation.

The purpose of this evaluation was to assess the extent and circumstances to which general budget support is relevant, efficient and effective for achieving sustainable impacts on poverty reduction and growth.  It identifies evidence, best practice, lessons learned and recommendations for future policies and actions, and draws on direct research from seven country case studies.
