This paper examines the current discussions about labour market access and seasonal work schemes, and analyses the debate over remittances, migration and development in the Pacific. The paper consists of six sections and a conclusion:

- Summary of the debate about seasonal labour migration schemes within Australia

- Other issues to be addressed if seasonal work programs were to operate effectively
