Australian Development Gateway

The Australian Development Gateway (ADG) strives to support members of the development community in their efforts to reduce poverty and enhance sustainable development in the Asia Pacific region. The site has been created with participation from members of government, private, academia and non-government organisations. User feedback mechanisms have been incorporated to guide future directions of the site. The site is optimised for low bandwidth access to enable the widest participation throughout the Asia Pacific region.

Infrastructure maintenance to reduce rural poverty project: Sri Lanka (pdf 124kb)

This report describes an ADB funded water resource management project in Sri Lanka that initiated and piloted innovative community-based approaches to maintaining rural infrastructure.

A key component of this approach was to engage and encourage greater participation by communities whose livelihoods the infrastructure was designed to improve.

The report provides detailed information on the project background and context, objectives and scope, costs and financing arrangements, impact and risk assessments.
