Australian Development Gateway

The Australian Development Gateway (ADG) strives to support members of the development community in their efforts to reduce poverty and enhance sustainable development in the Asia Pacific region. The site has been created with participation from members of government, private, academia and non-government organisations. User feedback mechanisms have been incorporated to guide future directions of the site. The site is optimised for low bandwidth access to enable the widest participation throughout the Asia Pacific region.

The urban material source book (pdf 114kb)

This source book is a resource guide for community-managed and labour-based upgrading of urban low-income settlements.  It provides a list of existing documented materials, experiences and lessons learned, from a variety of sources.

The source book aims to prevent unnecessary duplication or re-creation of suitable resources that already exist in the area of labour-based approaches to construction and maintenance of infrastructure.

- Community-managed and labour-based works in urban roads and drainage
- Community-managed and labour-based urban water supply
