Corruption in infrastructure delivery (pdf 912kb)
The aim of this research is to investigate the causes and effects of corruption as it affects the delivery of infrastructure and services to the poor in South Africa, and the effectiveness of anti-corruption measures in protecting the interests of the poor.Using South Africa as a case study, the research looks at:
- The main causes of corruption
- The effects of corruption on services and poor service users
- The type of anti-corruption measures applied
- The impact of these measures on shared community assets and the capabilities of the poor
- The extent to which the views of the poor are included in policy deliberations on corruption
