Australian Development Gateway

The Australian Development Gateway (ADG) strives to support members of the development community in their efforts to reduce poverty and enhance sustainable development in the Asia Pacific region. The site has been created with participation from members of government, private, academia and non-government organisations. User feedback mechanisms have been incorporated to guide future directions of the site. The site is optimised for low bandwidth access to enable the widest participation throughout the Asia Pacific region.

Slum upgrading and participation - lessons from Latin America (pdf 85kb)

It aims to provide practical, hands-on guidance to local officials and policymakers responsible for designing and managing slum upgrading and shelter programs and projects at the local level.

It is particularly relevant to people and organisations who are interested in:
- Increasing service provision to low-income areas
- Increasing the impact of projects and the durability of the improvements
- Enhancing financial sustainability of projects
- Key issues that need to be addressed
