Baan Mankong urban poor housing program

This site provides a comprehensive range of information about a large urban housing development program for poor communities across Thailand.

The information describes how the program replaced the conventional top-down approach to urban housing development with community-based management.

The information provides a case study to others on how poor urban communities in Thailand become the implementers of development projects they planned and initiated themselves, with support from their community networking system, local support organisations, academics and local educational institutions.

Users can access more detailed information in a range of topics, including background, goals program strategies, participatory processes, stakeholders, implementation results and community case studies.
