Promoting gender equality in new aid modalities and partnerships (pdf 129kb)

This paper identifies the considerations needed to ensure that gender equality is central to the aid effectiveness agenda.

It argues that women will only benefit from the new aid architecture if gender equality is recognised as a key component of poverty reduction and national development and if women are fully represented in decision-making.

It addresses new aid architecture and modalities and looks at gender considerations in specific areas of action, such as capacity building and sex-aggregated data to support gender equality.

The paper intends to help policy makers working on new aid modalities, gender practitioners at domestic, regional and international levels and bilateral and multilateral development actors.
