The Australian Development Gateway (ADG) strives to support members of the development community in their efforts to reduce poverty and enhance sustainable development in the Asia Pacific region. The site has been created with participation from members of government, private, academia and non-government organisations. User feedback mechanisms have been incorporated to guide future directions of the site. The site is optimised for low bandwidth access to enable the widest participation throughout the Asia Pacific region.

Strengthening capacity for managing climate change and the environment

The impact of the Technical Assistance (TA) will be reduced environmental risk through improved environmental protection and better management of climate change risks.

The expected outcome of the TA is strengthened country capacity for environment and climate change management. The TA will assist Ministry of Environment, Science, and Technology (MOEST) and other line agencies responsible for enviornmental management, in building new and strengthening existing capacities and skills and to mainstram environmental and climate change considerations into sectoral policies and the national development agenda in general.

Capacity development for Madrasah education

The impact will be modernization and mainstreaming of madrasah education at primary and secondary levels leading to improved learning outcomes.

The expected outputs will include
(i) a comprehensive analysis of the madrasah education sub-sector
(ii) strategies and a roadmap for developing the madrasah education sub-sector
(iii) proposals for investments in priority areas for modernizing/mainstream the madrasah education sub-sector

Emergency food crisis assistance for vulnerable populations in Mongolia

This project will assisting in improving access to food by vulnerable and poor households through emergency assistance and strengthened social welfare systems.

The proposed assistance aims at providing an immediate response to the food crisis to protect poorer segments of the population and strengthening existing social welfare systems/mechanisms. The assistance will be comprised of a program loan and a TA grant which are both funded from the Asian Development Fund (ADF).

Infrastructure services delivery improvement

The impact of the Technical Assistance (TA) will be improvement in the delivery of transport, water and sanitation and energy sector services to households and businesses of the Cook Islands underpinning economic growth, particularly in the important tourism sector improvement in living standards and environmental conditions on the main and outer islands.

The expected outcome of the TA is the implementation of a comprehensive infrastructure governance framework over a two-year period that ensures consistent and coordinated performance by the agencies responsible for infrastructure service delivery.
