The Australian Development Gateway (ADG) strives to support members of the development community in their efforts to reduce poverty and enhance sustainable development in the Asia Pacific region. The site has been created with participation from members of government, private, academia and non-government organisations. User feedback mechanisms have been incorporated to guide future directions of the site. The site is optimised for low bandwidth access to enable the widest participation throughout the Asia Pacific region.

Aid for trade - making it effective (pdf 2.22mb)

The report answers the following three questions:
- How much aid do OECD Development Assistance Committee (DAC) donors already provide in support of trade? - How effective are these assistance programmes?
- How can trade-related aid be a more effective tool in helping developing countries, particularly the least-developed countries, to fully benefit from trade liberalisation and WTO agreements?

The report also covers:
- Trade-related technical assistance
- Examines the difficulties in defining the scope of the aid-for-trade agenda
- Presents scenarios for additional aid-for-trade
- Outlines three primary areas of improvement in the effectiveness of aid-for-trade
- Looks at a proposal for strengthening the aid-for-trade framework.
