Ethics in education: the role of teacher codes in Canada and South Asia (pdf 1.16mb)
This paper uses a case study approach to review the development of standards that relate directly to teacher practice.The paper examines the context for change and development and outlines the process of development and implementation and the use of the standards.
It concludes by suggesting recommendations based on practice in the development of standards and include: active discussion with teachers to develop appropriate resources, to explain the standards to all educators, to involve teachers in development of and operation of a valid assessment system and to develop a mechanism for full-time continual review of professional decision-making bodies.
