The Global Coalition on Women and Aids - 2005 progress report (pdf 588kb)

UNAIDS and partners launched the Global Coalition on Women and AIDS (GCWA) in February 2004 with the aims of raising global awareness of the impact of AIDS on women, and stimulating concrete action at national level to reduce women's vulnerability to HIV.

In December 2004 the UNAIDS Programme Coordinating Board directed UNAIDS to further strengthen its leadership around women and AIDS. It urged greater support to national planning processes so that they incorporate analyses, programming and budgets for women and AIDS action. It also called for gender disaggregated data to ensure that programmes reach out equitably to men and women, girls and boys. This paper reports on the progress of programmes designed for women.
