Australian Development Gateway

The Australian Development Gateway (ADG) strives to support members of the development community in their efforts to reduce poverty and enhance sustainable development in the Asia Pacific region. The site has been created with participation from members of government, private, academia and non-government organisations. User feedback mechanisms have been incorporated to guide future directions of the site. The site is optimised for low bandwidth access to enable the widest participation throughout the Asia Pacific region.

AIDS discrimination in Asia (pdf 748kb)

The project is an action-based, peer-led study that aimed to develop an understanding of the nature, pattern and extent of AIDS-related discrimination in several Asian countries. The project was designed and implemented by people living with HIV and received ethical approval and funding from UNAIDS.

Objectives of the program included:

- To collect data on the context, pattern, nature and extent of perceived and actual AIDS-related stigma and discrimination experienced by people living with HIV in Asia
- To identify issues that need to be addressed and programs that can be implemented at country level to counter discrimination highlighted in the research results
- To increase the capacity of positive people to respond to future human rights violations
