Australian Development Gateway

The Australian Development Gateway (ADG) strives to support members of the development community in their efforts to reduce poverty and enhance sustainable development in the Asia Pacific region. The site has been created with participation from members of government, private, academia and non-government organisations. User feedback mechanisms have been incorporated to guide future directions of the site. The site is optimised for low bandwidth access to enable the widest participation throughout the Asia Pacific region.

Psycho-social support for orphans and vulnerable children: facilitator's manual (pdf 684kb)

This training program provides guidance to prepare adults, guardians, traditional leaders, and other community leaders with knowledge to improve emotional care and support to orphans and vulnerable children affected by HIV/AIDS. The manual addresses the following issues:

- sensitisation of community leaders and training for traditional leaders
- understanding and communicating with children
- loss and grief reactions of children
- helping children cope with stress

It is intended for use by all those who are involved in training care givers in the area of providing psychosocial support to OVC.
