Australian Development Gateway

The Australian Development Gateway (ADG) strives to support members of the development community in their efforts to reduce poverty and enhance sustainable development in the Asia Pacific region. The site has been created with participation from members of government, private, academia and non-government organisations. User feedback mechanisms have been incorporated to guide future directions of the site. The site is optimised for low bandwidth access to enable the widest participation throughout the Asia Pacific region.

HIV Medicine 2006: textbook

This medical textbook provides a comprehensive and up-to-date overview of the treatment of HIV Infection. It describes the 4 main transmission routes for HIV infection including:

- unprotected sexual intercourse with an infected partner
- injection or transfusion of contaminated blood or blood products
- sharing unsterilised injection equipment that has been previously used by someone who is infected
- maternofetal transmission

It also outlines the "natural history" or course of progression of the virus, its epidemiology and a classification system which allows for public health surveillance.
