The new international architecture in trade and investment: current status and implications (pdf 1.8mb)
There has been a recent shift in international trade and investment trends of APEC members. As World Trade Organisation (WTO) negotiations have stalled, many APEC members are moving towards increased engagement in bilateral and regional free trade agreements. This APEC paper investigates the move away from traditional WTO trade frameworks by APEC members. It explores the trade and investment trends of 8 APEC nations: Canada, China, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Chinese Taipei, Thailand and the USA.
It also aims to deepen the understanding of emerging trends and increase the technical capacity of stakeholders who are engaged in trade and investment-related activities.
