Negotiating river basin management: lessons from the Mekong
The Australian Mekong Resource Centre (AMRC) is a resource centre based at the School of Geosciences, University of Sydney. The Centre promotes research, discussion and debate on development and environment issues in the Mekong Region. The AMRC focuses on the role Australia plays in the region as a near neighbour, donor and major trading partner.This website documents a dialogue process on civil society and river basin management in the Mekong River Basin. It explores how communities living in the Basin can play a larger part in determining the its future, by:
- Compiling key information relevant to the management of the Mekong River Basin
- Presenting diverse perspectives on the human ecology of dams and fisheries in their river basin contexts
- Providing insights on the themes of participation and development
- llustrating key themes with case studies from the Mekong.
