Business responses
Climate change brief: business solutions (pdf 81kb)
The response of business leaders to the problem of climate change is undergoing a major transformation. In addition to acting on their own to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, a growing number of businesses are calling for government action to protect the climate. This article addresses the risk of climate change on businesses, the capturing of opportunities and the role that businesses are playing in promoting stronger climate change policy.
The article concludes by stating that businesses that are taking action to address climate change, both within their companies and in the policy arena, recognize two things: 1) regulation of greenhouse gas emissions is inevitable; and 2) mandatory climate policies, if properly designed, are consistent with sound business planning and good corporate governance.
