This report looks at the costs and benefits of desalination as an option for producing drinking water in Australia.It also looks at desalination as a potentially dangerous threat to the environment that could lead to a build up of brine, increased greenhouse gas emissions, the destruction of prized coastal areas, and reduced emphasis on conservation of rivers and wetlands.
