International Development Support Services (IDSS)

International Development Support Services (IDSS) is a consultancy, project management, and learning organisation working in international aid and development. It was established in 1983 by Oxfam Australia to implement its values and policies within the commercial international development sector. In October 2005, IDSS was acquired by the multi-disciplinary consulting firm Connell Wagner complementing its International Development Assistance (IDA) division.

IDSS' guiding principles have been shaped by twenty four years of experience and learning. We strongly believe in establishing social justice and engaging communities in development initiatives. We respect cultural diversity and the creativity and power of local expertise. IDSS is also committed to equitable and accountable relationships between governments and communities. We aim to influence what happens in development by promotion of a people-centred approach. With our work with communities, governments and organizations, we seek to build capacity at the local level and to improve access to basic services.

IDSS provides services for development agencies and development practitioners in the areas of: program/project design and management; professional training; consultancy services; and production of resource materials.

IDSS has a breadth of experience and we currently specialise in the Asia Pacific region. We have delivered over 200 projects and services to 46 countries encompassing maternal and child health; water and sanitation; HIV/AIDS; education; urban and rural development; post disaster reconstruction; natural resource management; civil society strengthening; and governance.
