Australian Development Gateway

The Australian Development Gateway (ADG) strives to support members of the development community in their efforts to reduce poverty and enhance sustainable development in the Asia Pacific region. The site has been created with participation from members of government, private, academia and non-government organisations. User feedback mechanisms have been incorporated to guide future directions of the site. The site is optimised for low bandwidth access to enable the widest participation throughout the Asia Pacific region.

This World Bank and International Finance Corporation (IFC) report analyses reforms in business regulation and their enforcement across 178 countries of the world.

The report highlights that:
- As countries reform their business regulation, more businesses are starting up;
- Eastern Europe has witnessed a boom in new business entry that rivals the rapid growth in East Asia in the past;
- Large emerging markets such as India, China, Egypt, Turkey, and Indonesia, are reforming fast and investors are taking notice;
- Egypt ranks highest among reforming country worldwide;
- Singapore ranks first on the ease of doing business for the second consecutive year.
