Australian Development Gateway

The Australian Development Gateway (ADG) strives to support members of the development community in their efforts to reduce poverty and enhance sustainable development in the Asia Pacific region. The site has been created with participation from members of government, private, academia and non-government organisations. User feedback mechanisms have been incorporated to guide future directions of the site. The site is optimised for low bandwidth access to enable the widest participation throughout the Asia Pacific region.

PNG National Gender Policy and Plan on HIV/AIDS 2006-2010 (pdf 335 kb)

This report highlights the gender dimensions of the HIV/ AIDS epidemic in PNG.

The National Gender Policy and Plan (NGP) on HIV / AIDS 2006-2010 is based on extensive consultations and research carried out between 2004 and 2006, including an audit of PNG's National Strategic Plan (NSP) on HIV/ AIDS and a gender impact evaluation of PNG's National HIV/ AIDS Support Programme (NHASP) activities.

The NSP and the NGP together comprise the "one national HIV/ AIDS plan of action" called for by the United Nations.

The NGP uses a gendered approach to HIV/ AIDS, identifies key policy issues, describes the characteristics of the epidemic, describes the NSP and matches focus areas against it, establishes priorities and describes implementation arrangements for the NGP.
