Australian Development Gateway

The Australian Development Gateway (ADG) strives to support members of the development community in their efforts to reduce poverty and enhance sustainable development in the Asia Pacific region. The site has been created with participation from members of government, private, academia and non-government organisations. User feedback mechanisms have been incorporated to guide future directions of the site. The site is optimised for low bandwidth access to enable the widest participation throughout the Asia Pacific region.

Volunteering Opportunities

Detours abroad

Detours Abroad specialises in volunteer overseas travel programs with a purpose. The range of overseas travel programs allows volunteers to experience the heart of the local people and their culture making the travel experience uplifting and inspiring.

Volunteering overseas on a sustainable, grassroots project will enrich your travels and benefit a small community. The volunteers participate for between 2-12 weeks on projects with local people in three broad areas - education, health and community services, including building and renovation.
