Make roads safe: a new priority for sustainable development (pdf 3mb)
This report by the Commission for Global Road Safety provides a global assessment of the problem of road traffic injuries and deaths, which affects over 50 million people each year, and outlines a global action plan to tackle the issue.The report covers a range of issues including:
- Key causes and issues related to road traffic injuries and fatalities
- The experience of developed countries in road safety and international cooperation in this area
- The links between road safety, sustainable development and the Millennium Development Goals
- Recommendations for Global Road Safety Action Plan
Many of the recommendations of the report are currently being implemented by the World Bank's Global Road Safety Facility (GRSF), with support from a number of donors including AusAID.
