Australian Development Gateway

The Australian Development Gateway (ADG) strives to support members of the development community in their efforts to reduce poverty and enhance sustainable development in the Asia Pacific region. The site has been created with participation from members of government, private, academia and non-government organisations. User feedback mechanisms have been incorporated to guide future directions of the site. The site is optimised for low bandwidth access to enable the widest participation throughout the Asia Pacific region.

Animal health policy & practice: scaling-up community-based animal health systems (50kb)

This paper outlines a study focused on the extensive experience in the human health sector regarding policy implications of community-based health initiatives. It also provides the justification, the objectives and the conclusions for the study.

Delivering services in rural and marginalised areas of developing countries has been and remains of great concern in the development arena. Similarities between human and animal health systems, especially regarding economic analysis and funding mechanisms have been reviewed previously while other authors have studied their structures and delivery channels.
