Children on the move: rural-urban migration & access to education in Mongolia (pdf 3.8mb)
This report discusses the findings from CHIP's research on rural-urban migration and children's access to education in Mongolia. It suggests that unless the impacts of migration are considered more systematically, national goals on access to education will not be met. This will require both a number of education sector-specific actions, which are outlined, and a series of other broader anti-poverty and other development policy measures. The study suggests that, without addressing the situation of disadvantaged migrant children and families, overcrowded urban areas, and the poor children and families left behind in rural areas, these national development targets will not be reached.
This paper is one of series of working papers, reports and policy briefings on different aspects of childhood poverty published by the Childhood Poverty Research and Policy Centre (CHIP). The report is available for download from this page.
