Trade reforms & food security: conceptualizing the linkages

The primary focus of this report is on the agriculture sector and the impact that trade reform can have on its ability to contribute to improved food security.

It is intended to be complementary to the existing literature that looks at the linkages between trade liberalization, economic openness and poverty, but which does not specifically explore the implications for food security.

The publication comprises of the following themes:
- Conceptual approaches to food security
- Current debates on trade policy and agricultural development
- Studies on the impact of trade and economic reform
- A framework for empirical research
