Towards sustainable shrimp culture in Thailand & the region

Shrimp farming expanded rapidly in Thailand and other countries in Asia in the early 1990s, but productivity plateaued and then went into decline.

ACIAR funded a project and an associated workshop. The program covered many aspects of shrimp farming including:
- Farmer issues in Thailand and Australia
- Research issues in the Asia-Pacific Region
- Shrimp diseases and health management
- Environmental management and integration into coastal zone planning
- Social impacts, economics and trade
