Water and primary health care for Tibetan villagers (pdf 1.05mb)
Quality Assurance Series No. 29. The AusAID-assisted Tibet Primary Health Care and Water Supply Project was a response to requests from the Government of the People's Republic of China (GOPRC) for poverty alleviation activities in the Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR).The goal of the Project was to strengthen and support the GOPRC's capacity to deliver health services and supply water to the rural villages of Shigatse Municipality.
The Project purpose was to improve householder's access to, and utilisation of, health care services and water. The Project had four components:
PRIMARY HEALTH CARE - to provide technical assistance to improve the quality and coverage of the Primary Health Care services in rural villages and townships of Shigatse Municipality.
VILLAGE WATER SUPPLY - to improve household access to water supply in 54 rural villages.
HEALTH EDUCATION - to provide technical assistance to strengthen the capacity of the Shigatse Public Health Bureau to improve the health and environmental health education services for the people within Shigatse Municipality.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT - to manage the Project so that objectives are achieved within agreed budgets and schedules, and all monitoring and reporting commitments are met
