Immunisations and vaccinations
Communication for immunisation campaigns for maternal & neonatal tetanus elimination (pdf 1mb)
This guide describes how to design and carry out a social mobilisation programme to create demand and increase participation during immunisation campaigns and routine immunisations.Drawing on case studies, it shows how social mobilisation, especially involving organised groups and individuals at the local level, is essential for a successful immunisation campaign. In addition to social mobilisation, effective immunisation campaigns also require:
- An adequate amount of vaccines and supplies
- A well maintained "cold chain" (the process of transporting and storing vaccines within the safe temperature range)
- Trained personnel to deliver quality immunisations
- Management and supervision of service delivery
