Australian health management plan for pandemic influenza (pdf 3.9mb)
This Australian Government Health Management Plan for Pandemic Influenza, released in 2006, outlines the Australian Government's strategy for dealing with pandemic influenza.It builds on the original Australian Management Plan for Pandemic Influenza released in June 2005, and draws on the latest expert epidemiological advice and extensive consultations with the health sector, key industry groups and the community.
The Plan for Pandemic Influenza is divided into four parts covering:
- Important background information on the nature of influenza and pandemics
- The Commonwealth Government's plans to prepare Australia for a possible pandemic from a health perspective.
- How a pandemic might play out and the actions that would be needed to respond to it
- Practical information about what groups and individuals can do to prepare for a pandemic, to manage during it and to recover from it
